That vision you had of yourself as a thin, vibrant, healthy person begins to fade into the background. Exercising becomes a tedious chore. A juicy hamburger with biggie-sized fries starts to sound a whole lot more appealing than a salad garnished with a few pitiful strips of chicken. The road to weight loss stretches further and further ahead, until following it to the end seems like a hopeless task. So how do you stay on track? What you need is some good weight loss motivation.</p>
<p>To begin with, set a definite goal. Saying &#8220;I want to lose weight&#8221; isn&#8217;t enough. How much weight do you want to lose, and when? &#8220;I want to lose 80 pounds in 12 months&#8221; is much more concrete and gives you something tangible to work for. It helps if you write down your goal and make a contract with yourself. Tell other people, too: Your friends, your family, your co-workers. Consider making a website or a blog about it. This increases accountability and gives you further incentive to stick with your goal.</p>
<p>Next, track your progress by keeping a weight loss diary. Whenever you gain or lose weight, write it down. Did you exercise? Write down what you did and for how long. What did you eat? Write it down. These little things have a big impact in the long run, yet they&#8217;re so easy to forget about once you actually do them. Going back and reading previous diary entries will give you an accurate picture of how far you&#8217;ve come and what&#8217;s holding you back.</p>
<p>Take before and after pictures. While watching the number on the scale go down is exciting, it&#8217;s even more rewarding to see visible results as your figure shrinks. Take a picture of yourself the way you look now. As you make progress, you&#8217;ll clearly see the difference.</p>
<p>Find ways to make the process fun. Going to the gym and working with the same old exercise equipment can get boring, so why not try yoga instead? Sign up with a dance class, or play badminton. If you vary your routine and try new things, you&#8217;re more likely to stay active.</p>
<p>And finally, don&#8217;t forget to reward yourself. One of the reasons people fall off the weight loss wagon is that they fail to celebrate their victories. We tend to think that accomplishing our goals should be its own reward, but sometimes we need to give ourselves a pat on the back. Whenever you lose 5 or 10 pounds, reward yourself by buying something you&#8217;ve been wanting, like a new book or a CD. Don&#8217;t forget to reward yourself for staying on track with your exercise regimen, too! When you start associating these small victories with good things, you&#8217;ll enjoy the process even more.</p>
<p>There are no easy solutions for losing weight; it takes persistence and hard work. But if you set small goals for yourself, keep track of your progress, and celebrate your victories with little rewards, you&#8217;ll have an easier time sticking with your goal.<br />

The truth about this diet is it is considered an extreme form of dieting; but is highly popular. Low calorie diets are common and 500 calories is at the lower end of the scale. </p>
<p>A diet is considered low calorie if it involves ingesting no more than 1200 calories per day. The idea of a low calorie diet is to lose weight quickly. If not administered correctly they can be dangerous and as such it is important to plan your 500 calorie diet with a professional dietician or nutritionist before starting. This article will help you to decide if the 500 calorie diet is right for you.</p>
<p>It is well known that the way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you take in. However a very low calorie diet can actually do more harm than good. When your body is craving more calories (energy) it can affect your metabolic rate. This means your body actually starts to eat away at your muscle mass. </p>
<p>It is doing this for the purpose of converting the muscle mass to energy, since there are no food reserves to take from. Because gaining muscle is the path to losing fat, this can have a highly detrimental effect on your body.</p>
<p>500 calories per day may be sufficient for some people depending on their:<br />
- Gender<br />
- Activity level<br />
- Height<br />
- Body type<br />

<p>The only real way to determine your ideal daily calorie intake is by using a bmr/amr calculator. You will then know how many calories you need to be healthy and to support your lifestyle. If you take 500 calories away from this, then you have the ideal number of calories, to take in per day to help you get your weight down.</p>
<p>As men and women are obviously different their ideal calorie intake is also different. This of course means while the average woman may need only 1200 to 1300 calories a day to survive, her male counterpart may need from 1500 to 1600. Again this is why it is so important for you to consult with your physician before starting any diet.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Mayo Diet is misnamed because it was not named for Minnesota’s famed Mayo Clinic.  Still, the eating plan persists under this name.  It continues to be popular.  It is also known as the Grapefruit diet because that fruit is consumed at most meals.  So, if you are wondering how the Mayo Diet works, this article will explain it.</p>
<p>The Mayo Diet is based around eating grapefruit, salads, and lean protein.  It strictly restricts carbohydrates.  You should follow the diet for 12 days and then take a 2 day break before beginning again.</p>
<p>A sample breakfast is two eggs, two slices of bacon, a cup of coffee and half of a grapefruit.  Lunch might be salad with dressing, any kind of lean meat, and half of a grapefruit.  Dinner is fish, any kind of non-starchy vegetable and half a grapefruit.  Right before you go to bed, you can have 8 ounces of skim milk or tomato juice.</p>
<p>As you can see, the Mayo diet focuses on grapefruit.  The theory is that grapefruit provides some “magical” dieting tool.  This is nonsense.  The reason that the diet works is that it is very low calorie (about 1000 calories a day) and that it eliminates almost all carbs.  That means that you are losing water weight.  If you don’t go back on it after your 2 day break, you are likely to gain all of the water weight.<br />

Some of the principles of the Mayo diet include eating until you are full, but not beyond that point.  You can have all the lean protein and fish you want, but don’t over eat.  </p>
<p>Don’t skip meals!  Also, you shouldn’t eliminate any of the foods on the diet including the bacon and the salads.  It is said that the exact combination of foods on the diet is what helps you lose the fat.</p>
<p>Limit your caffeine intake to one cup of coffee in the morning.  Caffeine affects the insulin balance that hinders the burning process.</p>
<p>When on the Mayo Diet, don’t eat between meals. The combination of food suggested should be sufficient so that you will not be hungry.</p>
<p>The diet completely eliminates sugar and starches.  These are lipids and form fat. Ironically, fat doesn’t form fat.  Instead, it helps burn it. You can even fry food in butter and use butter generously on vegetables and lose weight on this diet.</p>
<p>Do not eat desserts, bread, and white vegetables or sweet potatoes when on the Mayo Diet. It is alright to eat double or triple helpings of meat, salad, or vegetables, but NO CARBS. Eat until you are satisfied. The more you eat of the proper combination of food, the more you can lose.</p>
<p>It is typical to lose up to 10 pounds in 12 days on the first round of the Mayo Diet.  On subsequent rounds, you may lose less, but you should still take off some significant weight.</p>

<P>I was a sick kid. That&#8217;s all there was too it. I was born over 2 months premature and from day one I had one problem after another. I had chronic sore throats, ear infections, you name it. I missed more school than I attended. At one point, my mother didn&#8217;t think I was going to last long. Quite honestly, either did I. Then something amazing happened. My mother got desperate and took me to a well known nutritionist in New York City by the name of Maxamillion Lewitter. He was German and spoke like Bela Lagosi.</P><br />
<P>Long story short, Dr. Lewitter put me on a very strict diet and had my mother give me massive doses of vitamin C. I was 12 at the time. By the time I entered high school, one year later, I started a string of class attendance that only saw me miss 3 days of school in 4 years.</P><br />
<P>I was a different person. And I did it without harmful drugs.</P><br />
<P>Vitamin C literally saved my life.</P><br />
<P>So just what is the story with vitamin C? Why is it we always hear so much talk about taking plenty of vitamin C in the winter so that we don&#8217;t catch our death of cold? Is it just an old wives tale or is there something to it? Well, I can tell you from my own personal experience that vitamin C is no old wives tale. It is indeed a wonder non drug. But just how does vitamin C work and why does it work so well?</P><br />
<P>What most people don&#8217;t realize is that very small amounts of vitamin C are needed in order for the body to function naturally, about 90 mg per day. It&#8217;s only when we become ill that we need to have more vitamin C in order to get our bodies back to normal. This ranges from 500 mg per day up to a max of 2000 mg per day, depending on the individual. Do not take more than 2000 mg per day because vitamin C can be toxic if you take too much, even though it does come out in the urine. If you&#8217;re very ill, 2000 mg per day for about a week should pretty much get rid of whatever is in your body that is making you sick.</P><br />
<P>To answer the question of why it works so well, it depends on who you ask. The truth is, the medical community at large is split on the health benefits of vitamin C. There are those who stand firmly behind its healing powers and then there is the other side which isn&#8217;t quite so sure or flat out refutes these claims. For those who believe in vitamin C, and mind you these beliefs are based on tests which include those that have confirmed that vitamin C cures scurvy, the explanation behind why vitamin C can cure many ills centers on the findings that vitamin C actually protects cells of our body from harm and helps us absorb iron from food, which increases our blood count. Why is that important? Because a low blood count, which even medical doctors will confirm, increases our risk of anemia and many other problems.</P><br />
<P>In spite of all the evidence, science can&#8217;t agree on the benefits of vitamin C, which are too numerous to get into in this article. However, evidence aside, I know in my heart that had it not been for vitamin C and some sensible eating, I would not be here today to write this article.</P><br />

<p>When you think about how to diet, think in terms of abundance.  Rather than think about what you have to cut out of your life, think about what you can add.</p>
<p>Specifically, think about adding more vegetables to your diet.  Try to “sneak in” five servings of vegetables a day.  (Try to get two to three servings of fruit as well, but make sure you get all five servings of vegetables.)</p>
<p>Vegetables are wonderful foods.  They are high in vitamins and minerals needed to keep your body healthy.  They have tons of fiber which keeps you full.  But, perhaps for weight management purposes, their best attribute is that they are water dense which means that they have very few calories for the amount of food you can eat.</p>
<p>In order to make room for vegetables in your daily menu, you have to get creative about how you serve your meals.  For instance, many people think of dinner as a slab of meat, a hunk of potato, and a garnishment of vegetables that may or may not be eaten.  This is not how to diet.</p>
<p>Instead, use meat to accent and flavor your meals and make the vegetables a prime ingredient.  A chicken stir fry with lots of onions, carrots, broccoli, green peppers, and red peppers has far more vegetables than a spoonful of peas or corn on the side of your plate.</p>
<p>Think about serving soups and stews that have a large vegetable component.  How to diet when you are going to have a heavy meat meal is to start with a vegetable rich broth based soup.  This way, you will start to fill up long before you get to the calorie dense meat portion of the meal.</p>
<p>You can also try to “sneak” vegetables into meals.  There have been several recipe books lately that show moms how to slip veggies into their kids’ favorite recipes, but you can do this for yourself if you want to.    For instance, make mashed potatoes with half cauliflower instead of potatoes.  Or, puree broccoli and add it to spaghetti sauce.  The varieties of how to diet by sneaking vegetables into food are endless.</p>
<p>How to diet with vegetables isn’t limited to dinner either.  Think about how you can incorporate more vegetables into breakfast and lunch too.  For instance, instead of a bologna sandwich with a limp piece of lettuce, add tomatoes, sprouts, and spinach to beef it up.  For breakfast, instead of a bagel, have a healthy carrot raison bran muffin.</p>
<p>And, you can even get your vegetables in when it comes to desert.  A piece of pumpkin pie has a full serving of vegetables.  You can cut the calories by not eating the crust.</p>
<p>When people as you how to diet, you can now tell them that you fill up on vegetables and don’t need to worry about cutting out other things.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Easy diets are important because women today are busy.  They don’t have time to develop recipes around specific fat to carbohydrate ratios, cook elaborate dinners, or make separate meals for themselves while still providing nutritious food for their families.  Fortuanately there are easy diets out there that solve this problem.</p>
<p>Weight Watchers, for instance, is perfect for the busy woman.  There are no “forbidden foods,” elaborate recipes, or fancy food combinations.  Instead, each food is given a points value based on its calorie, fat, and fiber quotient.  Then, the dieter is given a maximum number of points to be used each day.  There are also floating points for the week that can either be divided up equally over the days or used for a once a week splurge.</p>
<p>There ware weekly meetings on the Weight Watchers program.  At these meetings, dieters weigh in and have their weight recorded and attend a 30 minute pep rally.  Seasonal issues like dealing with eating during the holidays are always addressed.  There are no special foods to buy.  There is an initiation fee and a $10/week meeting fee that is charged whether you attend your meeting or not.  Over all, this is one of the most easy diets that you will find.</p>
<p>You should be able to make the same kinds of foods for your family that you make for yourself.  While you might choose to eat less than you normally would or skip the potato or desert course to stay under your point limit, you will find that you can eat with your family at all times.</p>
<p>Another of my recommended easy diets is Jenny Craig.  With Jenny Craig, you are given a pre-set menu and most of your meals are provided for you.  You simply buy the produce for salads, fruit snacks, etc.  You meet with a weight counselor once a week to monitor your progress and buy your next week’s worth of meals.  Some of the meals are shelf stable, but the tastier ones tend to be frozen.</p>
<p>Jenny Craig is expensive.  In addition to an initiation fee, the meals you buy will cost you more than comparable groceries will.  Additionally, you will have to go to the grocery store to buy your produce.</p>
<p>You will not be able to eat the same foods as your family when you follow Jenny Craig’s easy diets. You will need to prepare normal foods for the non-dieters at your table and bring your frozen food to dinner.    If you are single, however, the portion controlled foods make Jenny Craig one of the easy diets to follow.</p>
<p>Nutrisystem is a cheaper version of Jenny Craig and an equally easy diets to follow.  While you won’t visit your counselor in person, you will have access to him or her over the phone.  The food is much less expensive, but it is all shelf stable.  It is mailed in 4 week boxes.  As such, it doesn’t taste very good, in my opinion.  You still have to go to the grocery store to buy produce, but most of the food is shipped to you in the box.  Again, you won’t be able to sit down to dinner with the family, but cooking the Nutrisystem food is no problem.</p>
<p>So, there you have it, three easy diets that won’t complicate your life while you are loosing weight.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Right now, you may know that you want to lose weight.  That’s a good first step.  You may not know exactly how you want to do it.  The diet industry is a multi-billion dollar industry.  It can be hard to separate fact from fiction.</p>
<p>There are five very important aspects to any weight loss program.  If you expect to lose some unwanted pounds it is very important that you consider these five factors: Permission from doctor, portion control, calorie intake, ease and convenience to implement, and exercise.    If you want a diet that incorporates all the factors mentioned above, then you may want to consider the Slim Fast diet.</p>
<p>By now, unless you’ve been living on a deserted island, you’ve probably seen the commercials for the Slim Fast diet.  In fact, if you think hard enough, you could probably recite the slogan right now: “A healthy shake for breakfast one for lunch and a sensible dinner.”</p>
<p>How does the Slim Fast diet work?</p>
<p>The Slim Fast diet is as simple as the slogan.  You drink one of their shakes or eat one of their meal replacement bars in the morning and the afternoon.  For dinner, you eat a healthy, low fat, low calorie meal.</p>
<p>The Slim Fast diet also allows for you to have food along with your meal replacement bar or shake.  However, whatever you choose to eat along with your meal replacement bar or shake must be 200 calories or lower.  For example, you could have half a turkey sandwich a mini pizza or a salad, etc…</p>
<p>It is a known fact that if you eat 5 times a day, you will help your body to burn more fat.  The Slim Fast diet also encourages you to have some healthy snacks between your meals to help your body burn fat.  For example, they suggest that you have an apple, half a banana, half cup of grapes, small bowl of fruit salad, one ounce of mini-pretzels, etc…</p>
<p>What should you eat for dinner while on the Slim Fast diet?   So long as you keep the meal balanced and at or under 500 calories you can eat it, within reason.  The Slim Fast diet suggests that the calories of your meal consist of one fourth proteins, one fourth starches, one half vegetables.  You should also have a tossed salad and a dish of fruit.  You should drink something that doesn’t contain any calories.</p>
<p>Just like any other diet, if you are on the Slim Fast diet, it is suggested you also get regular exercise.  For example, you can walk.  The Slim Fast diet suggests that if you would like to walk you should do it daily for 30 minutes to an hour.  You don’t have to walk if you don’t want to.  They want you to pick an activity, any activity and do it daily.  This will help you to burn more calories and lose weight quicker.</p>
<p>As you can see, so long as your doctor says the Slim Fast diet is okay with you, it brings a lot to the table in terms of weight loss.  It covers all the bases when it comes to portion control, reduced calorie intake, ease and convenience to implement and an exercise routine.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As a general rule, it is important to remember that eating only one type of food or mostly one type of food is not a wise and sound way to lose weight. There are lots of diets out there claiming miracle foods, but for the most part, those diets are probably trying to tap into the pocketbooks of folks who happen to love whatever particular amazing food is being touted.Â </p>
<p>For peanut butter lovers, there is the Amazing Peanut Butter Diet. For lemonade lovers, there is the Lemonade diet. For meat lovers, there is the Atkins Diet. For sweet lovers, there is The Cookie Diet. The list goes on and on.Â </p>
<p>And now, some folks are claiming the miraculous cottage cheese diet is the best thing in the world for losing weight; one beauty pageant contestant springs to mind immediately.Â  Regardless of what she says, eating one kind of food most of the time is not the way to go. I mean who wants to constantly eat grapefruit or drink lemonade? How boring is cottage cheese the fifteenth time you spoon it in? Is that any way to live and enjoy the abundance God gave us? I think not.</p>
<p>That being said, however, the cottage cheese diet does have some merit in a way.Â  Basically, cottage cheese is good for you, and the dairy industry is now claiming that dairy products really do help people lose weight.Â  So, incorporating dairy into your diet, including cottage cheese, is probably a very sound idea.</p>
<p>What exactly should you do with the cottage cheese? Well, I have picked up a container off my refrigerator shelf, and I can see that a serving has only about 160 calories. My particular brand is made using 1% milk. That is not a lot of calories. My little jar also explains to me that my cottage cheese has twenty-eight (28) grams of protein. Thatâ€™s a lot of protein, and we all know that protein is healthy.</p>
<p>You know how doctors are always saying you should eat â€œlean protein?â€ Well, 160 calories and 28 grams of protein sounds like the definition of lean protein to me.</p>
<p>Cottage cheese is also very versatile. You can top it with some berries or peaches for a yummy dessert or afternoon snack. That is obviously better than hitting up the office vending machine for a chocolate bar. The cottage cheese diet might also suggest that you put a spoonful atop some greens and veggies for a little dash of protein with your garden salad.Â </p>
<p>You can also experiment with jazzing up your curds. Do you love apple pie? Why not throw a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg in your cottage cheese?Â  Do you enjoy fruit smoothies? Try throwing some strawberries, a banana, a dash of water or milk, and some cottage cheese in your blender. You will get a nice consistency to your drink, and it will be absolutely delicious.Â </p>
<p>Finding interesting ways to add healthy items into your daily eating is the best way to get great nutrition, and the best cottage cheese diet of all is one that replaces higher-fat and higher-calorie foods with cottage cheese once in a while.<br />
