<P>It&#8217;s almost like we&#8217;ve been conditioned. Head hurt? Take an aspirin. Sour Stomach? Take some antacid. High blood pressure? Take an antihypertensive, diuretic or beta blocker. And it goes on and on ad nauseum. Simply name an ailment and there&#8217;s some kind of drug we can take to treat it. Notice I didn&#8217;t say cure it. And therein lies the problem. These drugs only temporarily relieve symptoms, and in the process many of them have horrible side effects that do us more harm than good. In other words&#8230;</P><br />
<P>The drug companies are killing us.</P><br />
<P>If you need some data to back this up, I&#8217;ve got plenty of it.</P><br />
<P>One has to go no farther back than the recent Vioxx scandal, which is now under criminal investigation for failure to disclose the potential risks to the public. This was clearly a cover-up. Why? Because the company that manufactured this drug knew of the risks but because the only thing they could think about was their profits, they kept this information secret.</P><br />
<P>Because of this one problem, the reputation of the Food And Drug Administration (FDA) was totally ruined and immediate reform of the whole program was called for. This is the organization that&#8217;s supposed to be protecting the consumers of these drugs. Yes, they certainly did a great job on this one.</P><br />
<P>Contrary to what you might be thinking, the problem is not confined to just dangerous prescription drugs. Over the counter medications are just as dangerous.</P><br />
<P>Need some over the counter statistics?</P><br />
<P>Why don&#8217;t we take something relatively harmless like aspirin and other anti inflammatory drugs that you can get over the counter? It is estimated that there are over 7500 anti inflammatory drug deaths reported each year. That&#8217;s just reported. Who knows what the actual number is? Imagine it. Go to your medicine cabinet, pop a Tylenol and risk ending your life. If that sounds over-dramatic, the stats don&#8217;t lie.</P><br />
<P>Okay, you&#8217;re probably thinking, &#8220;If drugs are so dangerous, why are drug companies allowed to sell them?&#8221;</P><br />
<P>That is certainly a fair question and one that deserves to be answered honestly.</P><br />
<P>The answer the drug companies will give you is that even though their are risks involved, the good that these drugs do outweighs the bad. Certainly that seems like a valid argument. However, and I will point this out at the end of this article, there are alternatives.</P><br />
<P>The real answer, however, is that prescription and over the counter drugs are big business. The drug companies make a fortune in annual sales. Need to know how much? I&#8217;ll give you just ONE company and just ONE product so you can imagine the kind of money there is to be made annually from drugs.</P><br />
<P>The company Pfizer, makes a cholesterol pill called Lipitor. This is the most popular drug in the world for lowering your cholesterol. The annual sales for this drug are close to $13 billion. That is just ONE company for ONE drug. Now, think about all the different drugs there are on the marketplace, both over the counter and prescription.</P><br />
<P>Hopefully, you now understand what we&#8217;re dealing with. But sadly, the problem still lies with ourselves. We blindly watch the TV commercials for the latest &#8220;miracle&#8221; cure without realizing that there IS a better way.</P><br />
<P>It&#8217;s time to put down our medicine bottles and say &#8220;Enough!&#8221; It&#8217;s time to get back to nature the way we were intended to live. Tell the drug companies that you&#8217;ve had it with their &#8220;bottles of death.&#8221;</P><br />
<P>It&#8217;s time for ALL of us to take our lives back.</P><br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>You’ve dieted, you’ve exercised, and you feel like no matter what you do you can t lose weight. Many people say that no matter what they’ve tried they can’t seem to drop any of their unwanted pounds.  Though the problem is the same, the reasons for having so much difficulty losing weight usually vary from person to person. Just like the same way of eating might not work as well for some people as it does for others, the problems associated with weight loss are bound to be different for many different people, too.</p>
<p>If you’ve been following a diet plan and still can t lose weight, you need to look very carefully at the diet and see if it’s really one that can work.  You’ll need to look at things like how many calories you eat a day on the plan, and whether your diet seems to be heavier in things like fat or dairy products, or whether it leans the other way and focuses mostly on fruits and vegetables.</p>
<p>If the amount of calories you’re eating every day seems reasonable—enough to keep you healthy but low enough to let you burn fat—yet you can t lose weight while eating this way, it’s likely that the type of diet just doesn’t suit your metabolism.  If the diet is calorie-focused and allows things like white bread, flour, potatoes, pasta and sugar, trying cutting down on those items. Maybe the diet is too high in carbohydrates for you and that’s sabotaging your efforts.  Experiment to see if you start losing weight.</p>
<p>If the diet is already low carb and you can t lose weight on it, then maybe it’s gone too far in the other direction. Are you eating lots of red meat, fried foods, oil and other fats like butter?  Some low-carb diets claim you can eat these foods in almost unlimited amounts, but that’s simply not true. All that fat adds up to hundreds of calories, and no matter how few carbs you eat, a calorie is still a calorie.  It can be very easy to eat too many calories per day if you’re eating fatty meats, nuts or if you have lots of oil in your diet.</p>
<p>If your diet really seems healthy, with lean meats, lots of vitamin-rich fruits and vegetables, some diary and little sugar or flour and you still can t lose weight, then you could be eating too few calories and causing your metabolism to slow. Or you’re eating much more food than you think you are.  Look at all the little snacks you have throughout the day, no matter how healthy they are.</p>
<p>Try keeping a journal and writing down everything you eat each day, including anything you drink that has calories in it like soda or coffee with cream.  If you can t lose weight because you’re eating more than you think, a week or so of logging the details of your diet should start to show you where those extra calories are sneaking in.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hey if you’re reading this it means you and I both have run up against that &#8220;cant lose weight myth&#8221;, but we both chose to believe it. It wasn&#8217;t our fault though, because our parents, friends, loved ones, co-workers and even people who didn&#8217;t like us, were quick to tell us to give it up, you will never lose weight. Chances are if you were like me you started believing them at an early age, perhaps as early as 4 or 5.</p>
<p>On top of that if it was your child hood friends, they taunted you with sayings like &#8220;Fatty, Fatty, 2 By 4 you can&#8217;t fit through the bathroom door. All of this because you were overweight and it didn&#8217;t matter what you did, it seemed you couldn&#8217;t get it off.</p>
<p>Stop believing right now that you cant lose weight. I&#8217;m here to tell you that it’s a myth and you can lose weight I did.</p>
<p>A short while ago I weighed well over 220 pounds (I was small boned and only 5&#8217;6&#8243;, had high blood pressure, borderline diabetic and my personal life was in a total melt down. I couldn&#8217;t hold a job because of my health problems and the people I tried to work with were worse than children about me being overweight. I was the joke of the work place, so as soon as I couldn&#8217;t take it anymore, I did my best to get laid off so I could collect unemployment or I just quit.</p>
<p>I did that one too many times and my family left me. Obviously I hit rock bottom then. I made up my mind I had to win them back and that&#8217;s when I found out &#8220;you cant lose weight&#8221; was a myth.</p>
<p>Shortly thereafter I was watching the Dr. Phil show and he was talking to people just like you and me. You know the &#8220;fat ones&#8221;. He told those folks they had to stop believing they couldn&#8217;t lose weight. Right then is when I realized that was precisely what was stopping me. I believed I can&#8217;t lose weight.</p>
<p>As I continued to listen to Dr Phil what he said made more and more sense. To make a long story short what he said was I had to believe I could lose weight and that I would have to change my lifestyle to accomplish my weight loss goals. The fact is I started that very day.</p>
<p>My first step was to go to my doctor and have him check me out to make sure I could start an exercise program without killing myself. Then I contacted a friend from my church and we became accountable to each other for each reprogramming our mind and reaching our weight loss goals.</p>
<p>Now here&#8217;s the fun part, we began to challenge each other in our goals, changing our lifestyle (eating habits) and progressing from a slow walk to a faster walk. Today we are up to 3 miles in just under 36 minutes.</p>
<p>Was this easy? Heck No! But I have lost 53 pounds and my friend has lost 47 pounds. The important thing is we have gotten it off and kept it off for more than a year. I&#8217;m now working and my family has allowed me back into their life. Is everything rosy, no but it&#8217;s a whole lot better than it was.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m living proof you cant lose weight is a myth. You need to search your mind, dig deep into your gut, get a plan together and stick to it.</p>
